Top 5 Reasons Why Most Fitness Programs Fail

Do you want to improve the quality of your life and look and feel better than you have ever imagined?

If you are like most people I’ve counseled, coached and trained in my career, your answer is YES!What I have found is that many of these people are misled on how to get serious results. The top 5 reasons for this frustration are lack accountability, lack of professional guidance, incomplete programs, avoiding cardio health or strength training, and failure to address nutrition. You may be making some or all of these mistakes and need to correct them in order to reach your health and fitness goals.

1. The number one reason why most of my clients seek out my expertise is because they need accountability. They need to have their appointments scheduled into their day with someone holding them to their time slot. Let’s face it; it is too easy to talk ourselves out of working out when we have had a long day at work. Another very important thing is the support necessary to get through a program. You have probably experienced a friend or family member trying to bring you down when you are trying to stay on a regimented fitness program. You need someone on your side helping you get through the obstacles.

2. I would bet that if you get sick you go the doctor or if you have legal trouble you call your lawyer. When most people are struggling with their health and fitness, they don’t seek professional guidance. A professional will teach you how to design a COMPLETE program that will target your goals and help you develop the behaviors necessary to live a healthier lifestyle.

3. Many people follow programs on their own that fail to incorporate all of the components necessary for success. They may be doing cardio but no strength training. They may be doing strength training but no cardio. They are not sure how many exercises they should be doing and what types and how many reps and sets they should perform to achieve the look that they want. This will lead to much frustration and inconsistent results.

4. Another big mistake I’ve identified in people doing exercise on their own is that their programs don’t incorporate cardio or strength instead of including both regimens. Many people are under the impression that if they need to lose weight cardio is good and strength is bad. In fact strength training can increase your metabolism by 15%. On the flip side if someone is trying to increase size and strength they believe they should avoid cardio training. Cardio is great for our lungs, heart and muscle repair.

5. Many people also throw away all of their hard work in the gym by not concentrating on nutrition. It doesn’t matter if you are looking to get healthy, lose 50 pounds or gain strength; nutrition plays a very important role in your progress. Nutrition is the foundation of any successful program.

All of these factors lead to major frustration and eventually failure. You need a program that targets these problems. The best way to avoid failure is to seek professional guidance. Any good system will address these issues and steer you away from these common mistakes and implement programs that lead to a lifetime of success.
