Kelly is a co-founder of SAVE 2ND BASE. Save 2nd Base is an apparel/accessories business that carries a strong message regarding breast cancer awareness. The company is named to honor Day’s funny friend, Kelly Rooney who passed away from breast cancer in July, 2006. Rooney convinced Day to take part in a 60 mile 3-Day breast cancer walk…and named their team “Save 2nd Base.” Fifty percent (50%) of Save 2nd Base’s profits benefit The Kelly Rooney Foundation, a 501(3)(c) that funds research focused upon the increased prevalence of breast cancer diagnosis in women under 40. Save 2nd Base has received national exposure in Newsweek magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair magazine, local Philadelphia newspapers and various influential blogs.
Save 2nd Base/The Kelly Rooney Foundation is based in the Philadelphia area and its proceeds benefit Philadelphia non-profits: www.breastcancer.org and the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center. Kelly Day is the mother of three wonderful children, and also works at The Great American Pub in Conshohocken.
