Erin Dugery and Kelly Day are co-founders of SAVE 2ND BASE - an apparel/accessories business that carries a strong message regarding breast cancer awareness. Erin fell into her philanthropic business by fate. The company and its name is inspired by Erin’s late sister and Kelly Day's friend, Kelly Rooney who passed away from breast cancer at the age of 42.
Erin has a supportive husband, David and is a mother to four rambunctious kids. Kelly Day is the mother of three wonderful children, and also works at The Great American Pub in Conshohocken.

"Save 2nd Base” is a unique and humorous phrase to support the fight against Breast Cancer. A play on words of the old baseball euphemism is now synonymous with a battle cry heard ‘round the globe! The shirts were worn during the 2005 Breast Cancer Philadelphia 3-Day Walk. Our group got such an enthusiastic response from our fellow walkers, we decided to make more shirts for others to enjoy. It’s fun to see someone look at the baseballs, read the phrase and finally get the joke. Breast cancer is no laughing matter, but since we have lost so many wonderful women (and men) to this disease we decided to fight it with humor.
Please wear your shirt with pride. As you spread awareness, enjoy the smiles these t-shirts create for those who see it.
Our Inspiration Kelly Rooney was a loving wife and mother of five young children. Rooney was Save 2nd Base’s co-founders, Erin Dugery and Kelly Day’s sister and friend, respectively.
Kelly battled breast cancer for three years, and underwent countless surgeries, rounds of chemo, and radiation. Despite her challenges and obstacles, she knew cancer couldn’t take away laughter. Kelly was funny. She had a quick wit, loud laugh, and endearing wink. She taught those around her to “lighten up.”
Kelly was mischievous…she was no saint and never set out to be. She was utterly human, with a big, giant heart.
Kelly passed away on July 11, 2006 at the age of 43. Through her memory, she continues to be the creator of the smiles that are provided by these t-shirts.
