Get Your Legal Ducks in a Row!
Kathy Hogan is a lawyer whose practice includes drafting legal documents of all kinds. “Everyone needs to have their essential documents in order, including their Wills, Living Wills, and Powers of Attorney, and for many busy folks, getting these basic legal protections in order is often a neglected necessity.”

Kathy also handles deed transfers, contracts, leases, guardianship agreements, consumer problems and provides legal representation for the victims of domestic violence.

A native of Woodbury, her private law practice provides free consultations to clients in the South Jersey area, often making house calls for the convenience of her clients.

Kathy was elected and served s Deputy Mayor of Haddon Township from 2003-2007. She initiated many new community activities including the formation of the Haddon Township Historical Society, and the “Arts Alive!” artists’ network, which provides a monthly forum for artists to meet and plan local art shows. These were accomplished in addition to her regular dutiesas Commissioner of Revenue and Finance.

“It is an essential part of any vibrant community to remember its history and celebrate its art. It is such an honor, as an elected official, to have the opportunity to advance such positive initiatives for the public’s benefit.”

Previously serving as District Representative in the Woodbury office of Congressman Robert Andrews (D-NJ) in constituent services, Kathy also served as a senior attorney for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, where she earned a number of awards for her professional contributions.

Kathy earned a Bachelors of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from San Diego State University with a concentration in “Ethnicity, Race, and Gender.” Her specialized academic background provided for her selection to serve as representative of 554 federally recognized American Indian tribes in her work with the EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxic Substances.

One of the many special projects she initiated was the “Indian Constitution Project.” She established a nationwide coalition of Indian scholars and legal specialists to collect all existing Indian tribal constitutions. These documents were compiled and transferred into an online archive. This was used as a blueprint to help tribes seeking to revise and strengthen their laws.

Kathy received the first “Risk Takers” award given by the EPA’s Office of Indoor Air and Radiation for her analysis of a health based classification system for radioactive waste management, which lead to its consideration at a conference by a subcommittee of a distinguished international radiation agency.

Before returning to practice law in New Jersey in 2001, Kathy lived in Virginia, where she was certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia as a professional mediator, in resolving court referred cases. Kathy has given numerous workshops and seminars on a variety of legal, environmental, and governmental subjects. She taught American Government as an adjunct instructor at Longwood University in Virginia, and also taught Constitutional Law to criminal justice professionals at the graduate school level. As a local representative of the Center for Civic Responsibility, Kathy holds local seminars on effective civic involvement as the key insuring good government.

Kathy currently serves on the Board of Directors of Starting Point, the widely acclaimed mental health and wellness center in Haddon Township, now in its 31st year of service. She previously served as the President of the Board of Trustees of the Camden County Animal Shelter. Kathy is a lifelong environmentalist and animal rights advocate and wrote the Deed of Conservation Easement to forever preserve a ten acre strip of land of old growth trees in Haddon Township, now known as Saddlers Woods.

A 30-year member of MENSA, the international high I.Q. society, Kathy hosts a monthly dinner and discussion group for MENSA members and their friends, on “First Fridays” at the Coastline Restaurant in Cherry Hill.

Kathy volunteers her time to coordinate outreach to new members of the Haddon Township Senior Citizen Association. In partnership with her local library, she has set up collection boxes for food for local families, donations of items for our active military in Iraq, and participated in numerous worthy causes.

Kathy is an ordained minister, and has performed a number of wedding ceremonies and civil unions in South Jersey, and always welcomes the opportunity to do so!
